FluorLite-PF

Inline Protein and Fat Measurement in One Sensor

The FluorLite®-PF combines two proven optical technologies in a single instrument: fluorescence sensing for true protein and Vis-NIR for milkfat. Installed directly in the line, it measures protein and fat in fluid milk with high accuracy, delivering continuous process data without the need for consumables.
❖ Simultaneous inline measurement of protein and fat
❖ Accurate across 2 to 6 percent range
❖ No recalibration needed for protein
❖ Simple plant adjustment for fat calibration
❖ CIP cleanable, real-time operation with no consumables

How it works

The sensor excites tryptophan in milk proteins with ultraviolet light at 280 nm, measuring the resulting fluorescence around 350 nm. This signal is processed through an algorithm to output protein concentration up to 6 percent. For fat, the sensor uses infrared and visible light backscatter analysis. Both signals are processed at 30 readings per minute, filtering out noise such as bubbles, to deliver stable results.

Calibration and Accuracy

The protein channel is factory-calibrated for fresh raw milk up to 6 percent protein and does not require recalibration in normal use. Fat calibration may need adjustment depending on processing stage, since milkfat particle size and scattering behavior vary. Standard error of prediction is less than 0.05 percent for both protein and fat in the 2 to 6 percent range.

Easy to use

Installation is simple and the sapphire-window design is fully CIP cleanable. No consumables are needed, and operation is entirely inline and automated.

Key Benefits

  • Simultaneous inline measurement of protein and fat
  • Accurate across 2 to 6 percent range
  • No recalibration needed for protein
  • Simple plant adjustment for fat calibration
  • CIP cleanable, real-time operation with no consumables

Smarter milk monitoring: One Sensor. Two Critical Measurements.

The FluorLite®-PF brings protein and fat monitoring together in a single, inline tool. It gives dairies real-time insight into milk composition, improving process control, reducing laboratory delays and streamlining production.
