FluorLite®-LX Sensor

Inline True Protein Measurement for Dairy Permeates

The FluorLite®-LX brings lab-grade protein measurement directly into dairy processing lines. Using tryptophan fluorescence, it delivers continuous, real-time data on true protein concentration, helping plants optimize membrane performance and keep processes under control.
❖ Inline, real-time protein measurement
❖ True protein unaffected by non-protein nitrogen
❖ Automatic correction for solids concentration
❖ Accuracy within 0.01 percent protein
❖ CIP-ready design with no consumables

How It Works

The sensor excites tryptophan with ultraviolet light at 280 nm and captures the fluorescence around 350 nm. Fluorescence between 315 and 475 nm is filtered to create a protein signal. By combining this with a measurement of light extinction, the FluorLite-LX outputs true protein corrected for solids concentration.

Calibration and Accuracy

Calibration is performed by the manufacturer and there is no need for plant calibration. Calibration is achieved using prepared samples of whey protein isolate (WPI) and dry permeate. An advanced algorithm, programmed into the sensor processor, relates the optical signals to protein concentration, with a standard error of prediction below 0.01 percent.

Easy integration

The sensor installs inline, is CIP cleanable, and requires no consumables. No plant calibration is required. An occasional measurement validation in the plant  is simple, supported by validation mixes. It fits seamlessly into existing dairy operations, providing protein data without disrupting production.
